NEDA Joins Concrete Pouring Ceremony Linking the 5th Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge (Bueng Kan–Bolikhamxay)

On 6 June 2025, Mr. Perames Vudthitornetiraks, President of NEDA, and the agency’s delegation attended the concrete pouring ceremony to connect the 5th Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge (Bueng Kan–Bolikhamxay) and the signing ceremony of the Agreement on Use Rights and Maintenance of the 5th Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge. The event was held in Bolikhamxay Province, Lao PDR.

The Lao side of this project is a financial cooperation initiative between NEDA and the Lao PDR, with a loan budget of THB 1,380,067,000. As of the end of May 2025, construction progress reached 99.54%, with structural works completed and final details underway. Full completion is expected in July 2025, with the inauguration ceremony scheduled for 19 December 2025 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Lao PDR.

Bangkok, Thailand — September 18, 2025 — Mr. Perames Vudthitornetiraks, President of the Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (Public Organization) (NEDA) and Chairman of the Subcommittee on Volunteer Spirit for Enhancing Quality of Life, together with Colonel (Ret.) Saranyu Viriyavejakul, NEDA’s Vice President and Deputy Chairman of the Subcommittee, led NEDA volunteers in the activity “Thai Volunteers United to Develop Community Learning Centers.” The initiative was organized to honor the auspicious occasion of the 100th Anniversary of the Birth of His Majesty King Ananda Mahidol, Rama VIII, on September 20, 2025.

The visit was made to extend respects and hold discussions on matters of mutual interest. The two sides exchanged views on key issues, including economic cooperation, the development of people-to-people relations, support for trade and investment, and approaches to strengthening development cooperation between Thailand and the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.

Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar — September 9, 2025 — Colonel (Ret.) Saranyu Viriyavejakul, D.Sc., Vice President of the Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (Public Organization) (NEDA), together with a delegation, attended a meeting to receive feedback on the draft Country Strategy 2026–2030. The meeting was held in collaboration with the Foreign Economic Relations Department of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations (MIFER) and other relevant government agencies in Nay Pyi Taw, Republic of the Union of Myanmar. The session was chaired by Dr. Marlar Myo Nyunt, Director General of the Foreign Economic Relations Department, MIFER, which serves as Myanmar’s principal agency in undertaking international development cooperation.

On 9 September 2025, Mr. Rapipit Promnart, Director of Policy and Planning Bureau, represented the Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (Public Organization) (NEDA) in a meeting with Mrs. Udeni Udugahapaththuwa, Director General of the Public Debt Management Office (PDMO), Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development. The meeting aimed to present and gather feedback on the Country Strategy 2026–2030, including NEDA’s three strategic development pillars: (1) Cross-Border Economic Enhancement, (2) Cross-Border Social Return Initiative, and (3) Cross-Border Environmental Impact Reduction.
