NEDA met representatives of OPEC Fund for International Development

On June 21, 2023, Mr. Peeramet Vuthithornnetirak, Director of Neighboring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency, had a meeting with Dr. Jaafar Almahdi, Director for the Asia Pacific Region, OPEC Fund for International Development. Both parties discussed in detail 3 main topics, namely:

1. Guidelines for joint operations in Cambodia, Lao PDR, and Timor-Leste, both in terms of Project Preparation and financial cooperation in Parallel Financing.

2. Being a source of funds for the NEDA. in USD currency for use in on-lending loans to countries under the NEDA mission that cannot borrow in baht

3. Assigning NEDA to coordinate with relevant Thai government agencies to operate the OPEC Fund in Thailand.

Both parties agreed to implement the said guidelines and will continue coordinating closely.

On April 3, 2024, Mr. Perames Vudthitornetiraks, President of the Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (NEDA), and his delegation visited Mr. Jin Liqun, President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) in Beijing, People’’s Republic of China. The visit, at the invitation of the AIIB, aimed to discuss collaborative approaches for financial assistance in developing infrastructure within the Mekong sub-region and to exchange visions for infrastructure development in the area.
