On 26th August 2022, H.E. Mr. Antonio Freitas, the Vice Minister of Finance of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, and H.E. Mr. Juvencio Martins, the Ambassador of Timor-Leste to Thailand, and representatives visited Thailand and discussed with Mr. Peeramet Wutthinetirak, the Director of the Neighboring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (NEDA), and the representatives from NEDA about the cooperation for developments at NEDA.
In the mentioned discussion, both parties exchanged the information about the backgrounds and policies of the development cooperation of NEDA and the loan policies for developments of Timor-Leste. The opportunities for NEDA and Timor-Leste for initiating the development cooperation in the future were also discussed. The economic and social developments of Timor-Leste under the National Strategy Development Plan 2011-2030 and the final phase of the mentioned plan 2021 – 2030 focused on reducing poverty, strengthening the private sector and improving the economic variety.
Timor-Leste emphasizes on the infrastructure developments in various fields including education, public health, clean water and sanitation, agriculture, electricity and energies, transportations and communications, and tourism. Accordingly, both parties agreed to discuss about initiating the cooperation, especially the infrastructure development for education.
