The Board of Directors of the Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency, led by Professor Tongthong Chandransu, Chairman, attended a meeting at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) at the OECD Chateau in Paris on March 27, 2025, to enhance cooperation for development.
During the meeting, OECD representatives provided in-depth information on various issues related to Thailand, such as current cooperation between OECD and Thailand, the progress and steps towards Thailand's OECD membership, and guidelines for managing and reporting Official Development Assistance (ODA). Experts from the OECD Southeast Asia Division, Global Relations and Cooperation Directorate (GRC) and the OECD Directorate for Legal Affairs participated in providing information and exchanging views. Towards the end of the meeting, NEDA held discussions with Mr. Carsten Staur, the Chair of the OECD Development Assistance Committee (DAC), to exchange perspectives on development cooperation in the form of South-South Cooperation.
This visit to the OECD was highly successful, with NEDA gaining clearer knowledge and understanding of the OECD's role, the membership process, and ODA operational guidelines, which will be very beneficial for ONEDC's future operations. The meeting is considered a significant step in promoting cooperation between Thailand and leading international organizations to drive Thailand's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals, as well as South-South Cooperation
