During 2-3 October 2019 at Naypyidaw, Myanmar; Mr. Perames Vudthitornetiraks,
President of Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (Public
Organization) (NEDA) and Senior Colonel Saranyu Viriyavejakul, D.Sc., Vice President of NEDA
participated in the preparatory meeting for Thai joint secretaries and the 9th Myanmar-Thailand
Joint Coordinating Committee (JCC) Meeting for the Comprehensive Development in the Dawei
Special Economic Zone and Its Related Project Areas. At the meeting, they also reported the
progress of the study of the survey and detailed design of two-lane road improvement project
connecting Dawei Special Economic Zone and Thai-Myanmar boarder, The Republic of the
Union of Myanmar which was the academic support (Technical Assistance: TA) provided to
Myanmar by NEDA. However, both parties agreed in the meeting that the above-mentioned
project is greatly necessary towards the development of Thailand and Myanmar. Therefore,
both parties were ready to support and push forward such project to happen soon, especially
the first phase and the following phases of the development in the Dawei Special Economic
Zone and its related areas.
