H.E. Mr. Kiattikhun Chartprasert, Thai ambassador, Royal Thai Embassy Vientiane, Lao PDR and Mr. Kirati Veruwan, Vice President of Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency participated and witnessed in the opening of Inaugural transit freight train march between Thai government and Lao PDR government at Container Yard, Vientiane Capital, Lao PDR on 1st August 2019. H.E. Viengsavath Siphandone, Deputy Minister of Ministry of Public works and transport, Lao PDR acted as a chairman for Lao PDR. This project was the cooperation between Thai government and Lao PDR government with the support from NEDA in Nong Khai–Thanaleng Railway Construction Project completed in 2010 and then, Thanaleng-Vientiane Railway Construction Project part 1 which led to container yard, container storage building and other working buildings. Vientiane train station and its railway connecting to Vientiane station are now under construction and expected to complete in 2022.
