NEDA Advances Cooperation with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and the Lao PDR in Strengthening Water Supply Infrastructure and Technical Personnel Capacity

On 11 November 2025, Mr. Kirati Veruwan, Vice President of the Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (Public Organization) (NEDA), joined a Joint Mission with Mr. Toshiaki Keich, Manager, Sector Clients Department, Region 1, AIIB, alongside representatives from the Department of Water Supply, Ministry of Public Works and Transport of the Lao PDR, led by Mr. Viengnam Doungphachanh, Director General of the Department, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Finance of the Lao PDR. The mission aimed to explore cooperation frameworks for advancing essential infrastructure in water supply and wastewater management in the Lao PDR and to pursue co-financing modalities between NEDA and AIIB to enhance service quality in the water system sector. Discussions also included capacity-building and training on water supply system maintenance, and assessment of government personnel development needs in the Lao PDR for the purpose of designing training curricula aligned with national requirements.
