BANGKOK, April 27, 2026— Colonel (Ret.) Saranyu Viriyavejakul, D.Sc., Vice President and Acting Director of the Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (Public Organization) (NEDA), welcomed H.E. Dasho Bharat Tamang, Privy Councillor of Bhutan; H.E. Dasho Kinzang Dorji, Ambassador of Bhutan to Thailand; H.E. Dasho Sonam Thinley, His Majesty’s Secretariat & Board Director; and a high-level delegation from NORION Renewable Energy Limited (NREL) of the Kingdom of Bhutan, to discuss renewable energy cooperation projects. These initiatives represent potential collaboration projects in the energy sector between NEDA and the Kingdom of Bhutan. The meeting also involved technical discussions regarding project implementation plans as well as NEDA's financial assistance principles and conditions. Also attending the meeting were Mr. Chatchai Mawong, Assistant Governor of the Maintenance Business Division, alongside an EGAT delegation; Mr. Yongyuth Phothong, Assistant Governor of PEA, leading a PEA delegation; and representatives from the Project Administration Bureau, the Policy and Planning Bureau, and the NEDA Treasury Management Office. The meeting was held at Meeting Room 1, NEDA.
On this occasion, NEDA, Bhutan, PEA, and EGAT conducted a study tour and visited the Breeze and Shine Power Solar Power Plant Project in Doem Bang Nang Buat District, Suphan Buri Province. This project generates electricity from solar energy utilizing ground-mounted photovoltaic (PV) technology integrated with an energy storage system to sell electricity to the public sector in accordance with policies supporting electricity generation from renewable or alternative energy sources. These sources can be utilized indefinitely without causing environmental pollution, while fostering future energy security and sustainability. During the visit to the power plant, Mr. Predee Daochai, Independent Director and Chairman of the Board of Directors, Gulf Energy Development Public Company Limited, welcomed the delegation and guided them through the project site.
