NEDA Convenes Meeting and Accompanies Bhutanese Delegation on Study Tour of Solar Power Generation Sites

BANGKOK, April 27, 2026— Colonel (Ret.) Saranyu Viriyavejakul, D.Sc., Vice President and Acting Director of the Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (Public Organization) (NEDA), welcomed H.E. Dasho Bharat Tamang, Privy Councillor of Bhutan; H.E. Dasho Kinzang Dorji, Ambassador of Bhutan to Thailand; H.E. Dasho Sonam Thinley, His Majesty’s Secretariat & Board Director; and a high-level delegation from NORION Renewable Energy Limited (NREL) of the Kingdom of Bhutan, to discuss renewable energy cooperation projects. These initiatives represent potential collaboration projects in the energy sector between NEDA and the Kingdom of Bhutan. The meeting also involved technical discussions regarding project implementation plans as well as NEDA's financial assistance principles and conditions. Also attending the meeting were Mr. Chatchai Mawong, Assistant Governor of the Maintenance Business Division, alongside an EGAT delegation; Mr. Yongyuth Phothong, Assistant Governor of PEA, leading a PEA delegation; and representatives from the Project Administration Bureau, the Policy and Planning Bureau, and the NEDA Treasury Management Office. The meeting was held at Meeting Room 1, NEDA.

On this occasion, NEDA, Bhutan, PEA, and EGAT conducted a study tour and visited the Breeze and Shine Power Solar Power Plant Project in Doem Bang Nang Buat District, Suphan Buri Province. This project generates electricity from solar energy utilizing ground-mounted photovoltaic (PV) technology integrated with an energy storage system to sell electricity to the public sector in accordance with policies supporting electricity generation from renewable or alternative energy sources. These sources can be utilized indefinitely without causing environmental pollution, while fostering future energy security and sustainability. During the visit to the power plant, Mr. Predee Daochai, Independent Director and Chairman of the Board of Directors, Gulf Energy Development Public Company Limited, welcomed the delegation and guided them through the project site.

NEDA Holds Discussion with the Asian Development Bank Resident Mission in Timor-Leste in Samarkand, Republic of Uzbekistan
On 5 May 2026, the Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (Public Organization) (NEDA), led by Senior Col. Saranyu Viriyavejakul, Vice President (Acting President), and Mr. Rapipit Promnart, Director of Policy and Planning Bureau, together with relevant officials, held discussions with Ms. Stefania Dina, Country Director of the Asian Development Bank Timor-Leste Resident Mission (ADB TLRM), on the sidelines of the ADB’s 59th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors in Samarkand, Republic of Uzbekistan. During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on infrastructure development and capacity building programs for government officials in preparation for Timor-Leste’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2029. both sides also discussed possible areas of financial cooperation and project development. In addition, Ms. Stefania Dina shared information on ADB’s ongoing operations in Timor-Leste, particularly in the transport, public health, and energy sectors, as well as ADB’s support for Timor-Leste’s economic development and the sustainable improvement of the people’s quality of life.

NEDA Attends the Opening Ceremony of the 59th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Development Bank in Samarkand, Republic of Uzbekistan
SAMARKAND, May 4, 2026 — The Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (Public Organization), led by Colonel (Ret.) Saranyu Viriyavejakul, Vice President and Acting Director of NEDA, and Mr. Rapipit Promnart, NEDA’s Director of the Policy and Planning Bureau, along with relevant officials, attended the opening ceremony of the 59th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Development Bank in Samarkand, Republic of Uzbekistan. The said meeting was held between 3–6 May 2026 under the theme “Crossroads of Progress: Advancing the Region’s Connected Future,” which focuses on driving the region’’s future through efficient and sustainable connectivity. On this occasion, the representatives from NEDA jointly listened to the Asian Development Bank’’s policies and development cooperation guidelines, emphasizing the strengthening of “Shared resilience” among countries in the Asia-Pacific region to cope with increasingly complex and interconnected challenges across economic, geopolitical, and climate change dimensions. In this regard, developing infrastructure, energy, and digital connectivity is considered a vital mechanism for reinforcing long-term stability and sustainable growth.

NEDA Attends Meeting with the 1st Budget Management Monitoring Sub-Committee to Report Progress of the Route No. 12 (R12) Improvement Project in the Lao People’’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR)
BANGKOK, April 28, 2026 — Mr. Kirati Veruwan, Vice President of the Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (Public Organization) (NEDA), attended a meeting with the 1st Budget Management Monitoring Sub-Committee under the Senate Committee on Budget Management Monitoring, chaired by Mr. Pamon Chaowsirikul, Chairman of the Budget Management Monitoring Sub-Committee. The meeting was held at the Committee Meeting Room CA 329, 3rd Floor, Parliament Building, to provide information and opinions on relevant issues regarding both operational progress and the budget for the Route No. 12 (R12) Improvement Project, specifically the section from Thakhek Town to the Na Phao Border Crossing Point in the Lao PDR.

NEDA Organizes "NEDA Talk in Uni" Activity at the Faculty of Political Science and Public Administration, Chiang Mai University
CHIANG MAI, February 6, 2026— Mr. Rapipit Promnart, Director of the Policy and Planning Bureau, Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (Public Organization) (NEDA), delivered a lecture and shared knowledge with students from the Faculty of Political Science and Public Administration and the Faculty of Architecture, Chiang Mai University, on the topic "ODA for Urban Development in GMS." The objective of the lecture was to raise awareness and foster understanding regarding the implementation of the Royal Thai Government’’s development cooperation missions with neighboring countries in the Greater Mekong Subregion through NEDA.
