Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar — September 9, 2025 — Colonel (Ret.) Saranyu Viriyavejakul, D.Sc., Vice President of the Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (Public Organization) (NEDA), together with his delegation, held discussions with Daw Si Si Pyone, Director General of the Treasury Department, Ministry of Finance and Revenue, on the implementation of cooperation projects in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. The meeting took place at the Ministry of Finance and Revenue in Nay Pyi Taw. The discussions covered three major projects: 1) Urban Development Project under the Greater Mekong Subregion Economic Corridor Phase III in Myawaddy, focusing on the improvement of the water supply system and the development of waste management systems, 2) Electricity System Improvement Project in Yangon, specifically in North Okkalapa Township and North Dagon Township, 3) Detailed Design Work for the Transmission Line Project from the Myawaddy Substation to the Sukali Substation, including the construction of the Sukali Substation and the upgrading of the Myawaddy Substation.
On the same occasion, the delegation also held discussions with U Kyaw Thu, CEO of the Yangon Electricity Supply Corporation (YESC), to follow up on the progress of the Yangon Electricity System Improvement Project. NEDA has provided financial cooperation for the construction of three substations, as well as the construction and upgrading of high-voltage transmission lines, to ensure a stable and sufficient electricity supply to meet the needs of the economic, industrial, and household sectors in Yangon. This initiative also supports Thai entrepreneurs operating in Myanmar. The meeting took place at YESC in Yangon, Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
