STOCKHOLM, MARCH 2, 2026 — The Board of Directors of the Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (NEDA), led by Mr. Theeraj Athanavanich, Chairman of the Board, participated in a meeting at the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) in Stockholm, Kingdom of Sweden, to enhance operational collaboration for developmental cooperation.
This meeting provided an opportunity for both parties to present in-depth information regarding their respective roles and missions. Sida presented an overview of its operations aimed at improving the quality of life for the impoverished across Africa, Asia, Europe, and Latin America, focusing on five primary areas of development: democracy, human rights, gender equality, economic development, and sustainable development to address climate change, utilizing the "Team Sweden" operational model. For its part, NEDA emphasized its vital role in supporting financial and academic cooperation for neighboring countries in accordance with its mission, while expressing readiness to collaborate with Sida across all dimensions. During the concluding session, information and perspectives on sustainable development pathways were exchanged with Ms. Åsa Hedén, Head of Asia Unit from the Department for Latin America, Middle East, and Asia, and Ms. Esse Nilsson, Senior Policy Advisor for Climate and Environment from the Department for Results.
The visit to Sida was highly successful, providing the NEDA Board of Directors with clearer knowledge and understanding of Sida’s role and operational guidelines. This will be of significant benefit to NEDA’s future operations and marks an important step in promoting cooperation between Thailand and leading international organizations to drive Thailand's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
